M's place Mike Sweeney on DL again

06/27/2010 - Milwaukee, WI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Seattle Mariners placed designated hitter Mike Sweeney on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with back spasms.

Sweeney, who also sees time at first base, was placed on the DL earlier this month due to lower back inflammation.

On the season, the 36-year-old is batting .263 with six home runs and 18 RBI over 30 games.

The Mariners also selected the contract of pitcher David Pauley from Triple-A Tacoma. He was 1-6 with a 3.68 earned run average in 15 games (14 starts) for the Rainiers.

The most interesting game of the opening week will feature the NFC champion Bears as they hit the road to take on the NFL’s top team during last year’s regular season, the San Diego Chargers.
