03/08/2010 - Albany, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Siena Saints make their fourth straight appearance in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament championship game as they clash with the Fairfield Stags tonight in familiar surroundings at Times Union Center in Albany, New York.
The top seed in the 29th annual tournament, the Saints are the two-time defending champs following victories over Rider in 2008 and Niagara last year. Siena has won 37 straight games in this building, the second-longest run behind only Kansas at the moment. On Sunday afternoon, the squad defeated fifth-seeded Rider by a final of 72-62, a day after knocking off Manhattan, 78-61.
Winners of four straight and five of the last six outings, Siena is second in the conference with four tournament crowns over the years.
As for the second-seeded Stags, on Saturday night they took care of Canisius in the quarterfinals with a 67-57 victory and then last night it was Niagara that went down in a 69-63 final.
Siena won both meetings against the Stags during the regular season which means the all-time series now stands at 29-23 in favor of the Saints.
Anthony Johnson scored a game-high 21 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Stags picked up the six-point win over the Niagara Purple Eagles last night. Also scoring in double figures for the second-seeded Stags were Derek Needham with 17 points, Colin Nickerson 14 and Ryan Olander 11 points to go along with his nine rebounds. Starters in all 31 games this season for Fairfield, Needham and Johnson spearhead the offense for the squad with 16.3 and 15.7 ppg, respectively, but there's no doubt the team is still feeling the loss of an injured Yorel Hawkins. A tremendous force in the paint, Johnson is also averaging 9.8 rpg and has posted 72 blocked shots along the way. From a defensive standpoint, Fairfield is holding opponents to 66.0 ppg and has forced those foes into almost 15 turnovers per contest.
Edwin Ubiles scored just nine points on 4-of-14 shooting from the floor, the only starter for the Saints not to score in double figures on Sunday as the team advanced to this title tilt. Ryan Rossiter registered a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 18 rebounds, while Ronald Moore had one of his own with 15 points and a game-high 10 assists as he continued to close in on the all-time assist record in MAAC history. Alex Franklin was the high man with his 18 points and Clarence Jackson chipped in 17 for the victors. Moore, who is just a 31.4 percent shooter from the field this season, clearly understands that his role is to get the rest of his teammates into scoring situations and deliver the ball in a timely manner. Moore leads the nation in assists with 7.7 per game, while Rossiter continues to average a double-double for the program with his 14.1 points and 11.1 rebounds per outing.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch
Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.
Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."

The most popular sports to bet on are NFL and college football along with NBA and NCAA basketball. There are multiple betting opportunities within those sports, beginning with the basic wager on a game’s outcome (also called betting the side). College Football Point spreads are used in both football and basketball in an attempt to even the attractiveness of each team in a match-up. ( See our article detailing how and why point spreads are made)
But you could also simply bet on the money line, or straight-up winner of the game. Oddsmakers use the money line so that more money must be risked on the favorite or expected winner and less money on the underdog to balance the action on both sides. While money line gambling is an attractive option for football and basketball bettors who only care about picking a winner, it is the primary option for those bettors who enjoy wagering on MLB baseball and individual sports like boxing, tennis, golf and racing events such as NASCAR. ( More details on playing the Money Line)
Another bet across all major team sports including football, basketball, baseball, and hockey involves wagering on the amount of scoring in a game, called an Over/Under total. For example, the Over/Under total on Super Bowl XXXIX was 48, which means a bettor could wager whether there would be more or less than 48 points scored by both teams combined in the game.
The final score of Super Bowl XXXIX was 24-21; the scoring of both teams added up to 45, which means the game went Under . So Under bettors won, and Over bettors lost.
Sports gambling doesn’t end there. Betting sides and totals are the most common wagers available everywhere, but many sportsbooks also offer future bets on big upcoming events like who will win next year’s Super Bowl and what movie will win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
The main advantage of futures is that you can get appealing odds by betting far in advance. For example, with NFL futures you often can get much higher odds on a team by betting before the season even starts. A NFL future bet on a team to win the Super Bowl odds might be 20/1 in the preseason; but by midseason, their odds might decrease to 10/1 if they turn out to be legitimate championship contenders.
Involves one individual wager, whether it be on your team to cover the point spread, to win the game straight-up on the money line, or to go over/under the total.
