05/26/2010 - Dublin, OH (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Tiger Woods will defend his title at the Memorial Tournament next week, the world's top-ranked golfer announced Wednesday.

Woods will make his fourth start of the season in Jack Nicklaus' tournament beginning June 3. He won the event for the fourth time last season, making birdie at his last two holes to beat Jim Furyk by a shot.

"The doctors advised me to take a week off and rest, which I did. They prescribed physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medication and soft-tissue massages, which I'm continuing with. Although I'm not 100 percent, I feel much better and look forward to competing next week," said Woods, who also won the Memorial three straight years from 1999-2001.

Woods has been out of action since withdrawing during the final round of The Players Championship on May 9 with an injury that turned out to be an inflamed joint in his neck.

His next start after the Memorial will be the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach from June 17-20. The current world No. 1 has also committed to play in his own tournament, the AT&T National from July 1-4, and the British Open from July 15-18.

Woods has made three up-and-down starts this season since returning to golf following the sex scandal that dynamited his personal life.

He tied for fourth place at the Masters, but missed the cut badly against a good field at the Quail Hollow Championship and then withdrew from The Players Championship after finishing just six holes of the final round.
